Strawberry Yogurt Loaf (Kid-Approved!)
This strawberry yogurt loaf is fluffy, lightly sweet, and filled with little bites of fresh strawberry in every slice. It’s one of those simple homemade snacks that feels a little bit special, but is easy enough to make on a regular weekday.

And yes, while we originally called this a snacking cake, it really bakes up more like a soft, sliceable loaf. Which, in my opinion, makes it even more useful. You can serve it for breakfast, add it into lunchboxes, offer it as an after-school snack, or freeze individual slices for when you need it fast. Now, if cake sounds better, please feel free to make it in a cake pan and slice it into squares instead! Both work!
If you’ve been around here for a while, you know I love a good family-friendly loaf recipe. This strawberry yogurt loaf fits right in with favourites like my Healthy Banana Gingerbread Loaf for when the weather is a bit cooler, or my Flourless Banana Pumpkin Loaf. You also cannot go wrong with my classic Healthy Banana Bread and this raspberry lemon loaf, which is moist and delicious with pops of raspberry. They’re all the kind of recipes that make busy mornings, school snacks, and snacky afternoons a little easier.
Why this dietitian mom loves this strawberry yogurt loaf
Strawberries are always a sure bet in our house. Everyone loves them, and when they’re folded into a fluffy loaf like this one? It’s a snack made in heaven.
As a dietitian and mom, I love that this loaf has some staying power, too. The Greek yogurt and eggs add protein, while the whole wheat flour and strawberries add fibre. This combination helps make each slice more satisfying than a typical sweet snack on its own.
But let’s be honest: the most important part is that it tastes really, really good. It’s soft, lightly sweet, and has that fresh strawberry flavour that kids tend to love. I often double the recipe and bake two loaves at once: one for immediate snacking and one to slice and freeze for later. Future me is always grateful.

How to keep this loaf from getting soggy
Strawberries are delicious in baking, but they do add moisture. A few small steps make a big difference in the final texture of this strawberry yogurt loaf. Here are my top tips:
- First, choose firm, fresh strawberries if possible. If the berries are very soft or overripe, they can release too much liquid and create mushy pockets in the loaf.
- Second, chop the strawberries small. Pea-sized pieces work best because they distribute evenly through the batter and bake into the loaf more consistently.
- Third, toss the chopped strawberries with flour before folding them in. This helps keep the berries suspended in the batter instead of sinking to the bottom.
- Finally, don’t let the loaf cool completely in the pan. Let it rest for about 15 minutes, then gently tip it out onto a cooling rack. This allows steam to escape and helps prevent the sides and bottom from becoming soggy.

How to turn this strawberry yogurt loaf into a satisfying snack for kids
This loaf is obviously great on its own, but you can also pair it with other foods to make it more filling, depending on when you’re serving it and how hungry your child is.
For breakfast, try a slice with yogurt, milk, a smoothie, or fruit. For a snack, serve it with nut or seed butter, cottage cheese, cheese, or whatever your family enjoys. It also works beautifully in lunchboxes or as an after-school snack when kids need something satisfying but easy.

How to store and freeze this loaf
Let the loaf cool completely before slicing or storing. Because this loaf contains fresh strawberries, giving it enough cooling time helps the texture set and prevents extra moisture from getting trapped.
Store leftover slices in an airtight container. For longer storage, freeze individual slices in a freezer-safe bag or container. You can place parchment paper between slices if you want to make them easier to separate.
Frozen slices can be thawed at room temperature, packed into lunchboxes, or warmed gently before serving. I love freezing this loaf in slices because it makes busy mornings and snack times so much easier.

Strawberry Yogurt Loaf (Kid-Approved!)
Ingredients
Dry ingredients:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon fine salt
Wet ingredients:
- 3/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1/3 cup grapeseed or other neutral oil
- 1/3 cup honey or pure maple syrup
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup strawberry jam
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
Mix in:
- 1 cup whole fresh strawberries cut into small pea-sized pieces and dusted with 2 tablespoons flour
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F/175°C. Grease and flour a 5-inch by 9-inch loaf pan. I find that lining with parchment paper for this cake risks slightly soggy strawberries.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients (all purpose flour, whole wheat flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt) and set aside.
- In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the wet ingredients (yogurt, oil, honey or syrup, eggs, jam and vanilla) until smooth and combined. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir just until combined with no dry flour patches.
- Chop the strawberries as directed and stir with the flour until coated. Fold them gently into the cake batter.
- Bake for 55 to 65 minutes, until a toothpick test comes out clean and the top is lightly firm when pressed. Let cool in the pan for 15 minutes or so, then tip the loaf onto a cooling rack until completely cool before slicing. Don’t allow the loaf to cool completely in the pan as the berries will get soggy.
